Pottery Square

Pottery Square — locally known as Chakupat — is a living working space where traditional Newari potters have shaped clay using hand-turned wheels for centuries. Hundreds of sun-dried pots, water vessels, oil lamps and terracotta figures are displayed across the open square at all times of day, creating an earthy, photogenic scene that feels completely untouched by mass tourism. Visitors can watch the entire process from raw clay to finished product, and purchase handmade pieces directly from the artisans.
