Dattatreya Temple
The Dattatreya Temple is believed to date from 1427 and is uniquely venerated by three distinct religious traditions — Shaivites, Vaishnavites and Buddhists — making it one of the most inclusive sacred sites in Nepal. The temple's structure resembles the Kasthamandap in Kathmandu and is said to have been built using the timber of a single tree. Its open porch, carved wooden beams and erotic carvings on the struts reflect the full sophistication of Newari religious architecture. Two famous Malla wrestlers guard the entrance stairway.
