55-Window Palace
The 55-Window Palace is one of the most celebrated examples of Newari wood carving in the world. Constructed during the 17th century and later extended, it served as the royal residence of the Malla kings of Bhaktapur. Its eastern facade features 55 intricately carved wooden windows that display some of the finest lattice work ever produced by Newari craftsmen. The palace today houses the National Art Museum, preserving a remarkable collection of Nepali paintings, bronzes and manuscripts.
